Amboseli Crossing
Amboseli Kenya 2007
An edition of 75 in all sizes
Amboseli Crossing was taken in October 2007 and is the oldest picture I have taken that I have available as a print. After thirteen years it remains one of my two or three most satisfying elephant pictures. My camera of the time had a ten megapixel sensor (quite ok for that year) but that is immaterial – the texture and application results in an almost analog look and feel, as if it was taken on film.
A family of around twenty elephants was far, making their way to water mid morning in a single file line. However during their journey, two lions were on their route. The family bunched up and put the youngsters in the middle. Once they were safe again, the family unbunched and formed their line again.
